OK, it's not digital photography...

but it looks like we might be getting close to the end of an era:

Is the rich-hued Kodachrome era fading to black?

There's only one Kodak-certified lab still running the Kodachrome process. The lab I used to use in NYC when I lived there spent $5million to put in the 2-story Kodachrome processing system (and also had to hire a full-time chemist to keep the process 'in control').

Shortly after that, Digital Photography began to make inroads.

I always loved the colors and saturation you could get with well-exposed Kodachrome. It had a very specific 'look'.
