Automated Pano Stitching Tool

Does anyone know of a program that performs better than Photoshop in the photo merging department. It seems like the pics have to be perfect, and lenses have to be distortion free in order for Photoshop to get them just right. My biggest problem is the gradient of the sky in most photos.

Here's one i did handheld from the ferry through an old 50mm wide open. I usually use a tripod and a tighter lens. I am surprised at the results, since i was just farting around, but the finished pano falls far short of what i want to achieve.

CS4 works perfect..you have to make sure that you have about a 40% overlay in each photo..plus CS4 has an auto blend which matches all of your colors, saturations, exposure, etc...works great!!

heres a couple examples of mine

Give PTGui a try.

Microsoft Image Composition Editor (ICE) is also pretty good, but it lacks the manual controls if it messes something up.

I will try those. I love the full control i can have in PS, but it seems like to powerful of a program to fire up just to stitch a couple pics together.

I guess i just need to learn to shoot with pano's in mind, and leave 40% overlap. Those panos above are pretty smooth.

to use it to its full effectiveness you need to use it with BRIDGE CS4. This will allow you to import, rename and even load multiple photos into photoshop layers in prep for creating a pano...its the best program I have found to do it...once you know how..you can have it done in 3 steps

Try - autostitch. Free and although you may have to do some cleanup in photoshop, it generally seems to work well.

Crater Lake pano.

Ptgui.
With the ability to change the WAY you stitch.
2 different styles from the same shots, just shot at different times, from the same lens and location.
