My Camera: Nikon D300, D80

Question Lens upgrade. Good Choice?

I'm looking to upgrade one of my lenses for my D80. Right now I have this lens AF Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4-5.6G from Nikon. It just doesn't seem to be a fast enough lens tho. My pictures with this lens are not nearly as sharp as with my other lenses. The lens I'm looking at is AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G IF-ED from Nikon

Has anyone tried both of these lenses? Would this be a good choice? Any input would be appreciated.

My current lenses that I have are:

AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D
AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR
AF Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4-5.6G

roost. thats a good lens, but at half the price the sigma 70-200mm DG HSM is just as good for what you're using it for. It will still run you a good 800 bucks, or 650 on ebay maybe.... I had it for a while but it the hypersonic focus motor didnt like the D200. It was a known issue with HSM lenses and the D200.

Would it have issues with the D300? I'm planning on upgrading my camera in the future also.

My Camera: Nikon D2X

I've got the Nikon 70-200 and it is by far my favorite and most used lens.
