Q?: Body Only vs. Body Lens Combo's

So, it is time to get a new camera. My old one, which was a small S1IS decided to start going crazy, and it inverts colors once in awhile while taking photo's. The CCD is basically on its last leg.

So I have been looking at the new Canon Rebel XSI.

So...

Is the combo worth getting the crap lens? It is only 40 bucks more, and I think it would not be a bad buy for the combo. Which is 699 through Newegg, which is one of the better prices I have seen, and in my price range.

Any thoughts? Comments, Etc?

the kit lense is good enough to last you until you upgrade it
if you can afford a better lense right away just get the body
Id say the kit lense is worth the 40 but not much higher
