Just picked up a brand new Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR Lens... usually I go with B+W for protective lens filters, but went with a Nikon filter instead...
First impressions... external noise - I'm talking audible noise, not picture noise.
It has a solid construction, feels great on my D300, very manageable, classic Nikon feel...
With the internal lens movement, and compared to the quiet motors of my Nikon 28-70 2.8, this lens makes that additional "click" sound, especially when moving up between the focal lengths and focusing.
Now I'm scared Nikon is going to release this workhorse of a lens, revised with some better silent motor technology... but until they do, I'll be happy with what I have.
Forecast today and throughout the weekend is looking rainy and cold, so no trying out the lens just yet... next week hopefully!
