Light painting.

Let's have some fun with the camera.
1. The tools
Besides your camera you will need a tripod and a flashlight with homemade snoot. (or any other kind of light you can handle and move). Why a tripod? Because you will choose a shutter speed slow enough to do your drawing. In my case, it usually takes me 20 to 30 seconds to create the scene.
I recommend using a remote control which gives the option to lock the shutter in bulb mode. Like that, you have all the time you need to...

status repair went from it'll be fixed within 7 business days (when it was received on 11/18) to 10 business days as of today. seriously? wtf?

with the events over the last five days, i'm surprised i haven't shot my foot off. this just kind of tops the cake.

oh wait.

i don't own a gun.

and i don't like cake.

Impulse Lens Purchases...

I'm rather impulsive with my spending habits. This impulsive spending led to the purchase of my first motorcycle at age 29, best impulse buy ever. I impulsive about the purchase of my DSLR too, buying a new Nikon D60 a few months back. I've since captured 1000's of images, mostly snap shots of family and friends, cars, bikes, flowers, etc. Maybe only a couple of dozen images that I really am proud of.

On impulse I bought a 50mm f/1.8 ( 2137 Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Standard Auto Focus Nikkor Lens - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty...

Nikon 13-300mm f/1.0 VR Lens for only $99!

My first lens was Nikon's versatile 18-200mm VR lens, and I loved it... until I started getting faster 2.8 lenses and now I never even pull out this lens.

So I put all my new lenses back in their cases and popped this 18-200 back onto my D300 to see how it fairs. It's not as fast, but it's very versatile with such a wide focal range.

Is it even worth hanging onto? I think for its versatility, I might as well. Ken Rockwell swears if he was stuck with just one lens, this...
