My Camera: Nikon D700

24mm/1.4 NIKKOR anyone?

Been lusting after this lens pretty badly...

Anyways, rented the 14-24/2.8 for a month in Europe. Loved it, of course, but too wary of the bulbous element (no filter) to purchase.
So, wanting to go wider. I was settled on the 24-70/2.8, amazing lens, no doubt.

But now the 24/1.4's out, and I'm leaning pretty heavily towards it.

Thought Process:
I shoot mostly photojournalism/portraits/concerts/night photography. This should kill, if the AF's decent.
I'm more creative with primes than with zoom lenses. Thinking midrange zoom will cause my composition/creativity to suffer, compared to a wide prime.
Expensive as %*$@, but hey, the investment should be lenses, not bodies, right? Thinking this should hold its value well..
Ken Rockwell said I should do it. And someone's gotta support that growing family.

-[B]Anyone used/buy the new 24? I know it's brand new, and I should expect a wait, but boy I'd love 10 mins of this on my D700, check out the ergos, AF, etc., before pre-ordering.

thanks all
michael
