My Camera: Canon Rebel Xsi

Cracked And Bought A New Camera

For the past 2-3 years I have been shooting with 2 cameras...a wonderful (*sarcasm*) Costco brand point and shoot (*Kodak EasyShare V550*) which in all honesty isn't horribly bad...

Theres the obvious lack of full control between it and a DSLR but I did win runner up in a local photo contest with a picture that I took while on a hike in the woods.

Along with that camera I had been using a Canon Rebel Xt.

The camera is my grandpas camera but he never really used it. He know I was getting pretty heavy into photography and told me I can hang onto it as long as I needed. Agreement was that if he needed it, I would get it back to him and he would return it when he's finished.

Well its been my plan to return his camera for some time now, but moneys always the issue haha! Plans fell through to go to Vegas this month so that money I had saved up for the slots. Well...guess what it went too!

Yea, I cracked...I spent a couple days comparing cameras, always loved Canon myself and decided to stick with it and felt the Canon Rebel Xsi fit my needs the best. Easy switch over from the Xt to the Xsi, most of the same features are on the newer, plus some more things to play with and the obvious mega pixel upgrade. There were a couple reasons I strayed away from the T1i. Biggest ones were, I dont really buy a DSLR for video, so that wasnt a winning factor for me, plus the $200 difference kinda leaned me one way vs. the other as well.

Just bought it today and Im still charging the battery so I havnt taken any pictures with it yet but I cant wait.

I just did the basic body+18-55mm lens package plus a pretty nice case for it. $700 all-in-all. Im happy

Why did you get one that came with a kit lens?

I ask as I'm assuming that since you had an XT that you'd already have a kit lens or something better than kit.

I probably would have gone with the T1i, but then again, budget is a key factor in making purchases like these.

Either way, good luck with the new gear. Write a review once you have some face time behind it.

Because he had to return the XT...at least that's my guess.

Good call. Somehow missed the Grandpa part of the story while looking at the camera pics.

Tofu, you are correct...and even the Xt had the same lens minus image stabilizer that my xsi has.

I just went out last night to text it out and I love it. Im starting a thread right now of the pictures I took.
