recommend me a backpack

Would like it to hold:

4-5 lenses
1-2 bodies
3-4 flashes
batteries, filters, etc.
straps on outside for tripods

doesn't need to hold a laptop

under $200

Preferably a waist strap in case I hike or ride with it.

My Camera: Nikon D300

I have the Tamrac Expedition 6X but that breaks the $200 mark. For the kind of equipment you want to hold, go for the Expedition 7X/8X.

So the Expedition has a laptop pocket. The only differences in the bags, is the laptop sizes they hold and the volume of camera equipment increases accordingly.

The 6X and above will not meet your price requirements - unless you look at the secondary market. The 8X seems to be the one you're going to want.

If you really dont need/want to store a laptop, then get the 8X, use the laptop sleeve for all your cables, cords, extra lens covers, etc. and then your main area is free for your camera equipment.

I think when we were shooting pictures of our bikes, you saw my 6X bag. You can check it out again next time I see you. It's a great bag, holds a full tripod, laptop, 2 bodies, big 70-200 2.8 lenses and other ones too, my flash equipment, and a ton more stuff. It gets heavy, but the bag is built sturdy and has solid Tamrac construction and durability.

Let us know what you find/get.

My Camera: Nikon D2X

I use a Dakine Sequence. It's primarily used for skiing/hiking photography. It won't hold all that you were thinking (3-4 lens, 1-2 bodies, and 3-4 flashes is a ton to be carrying around in a backpack). But I have fit my D2X, D200, 17-55, 70-200, 50mm, 10.5 fisheye and (1) sb-800 in it. It was really freaking heavy.
