Went hiking up to High Rock Lookout today with the family. Just a couple of pictures for now, I'll dig more out later. This one is Mt. St. Hellens in the distance.

Here's the lookout

One of my kids after a 3 1/2 mile walk. Note the very tired dog as well!

Also went shooting last night for the fireworks. I forgot my remote so I was playing with exposures non stop. The problem I was having is we were far away and I needed to have a long exposure to get enough light. Also timing it without a remote was difficult. Next year I think I'm going to try and get closer so there will be more light.

Balcony view of the sunrise in Shanghai. I stayed up all night playing MahJong on my new cellphone and then realized the sun was rising, whoo.

The wife and I went to Indiana for the weekend to visit relatives. This is my granddaughter doing modeling duty for a shot I've always wanted to try, but have never had the opportunity.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II ,Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM
1/3200s f/2.8 at 73.0mm iso100

What I see: Should have changed positions so the background was controlled - didn't even think of it. Also I didn't even notice the strap flopping up on her face when I was shooting. That seems to be the way it goes around here...

This is what happens to your bike after you ride about 3000 miles around Washington Oregon and California and never clean it.

That is just cool. I really like it, even with the strap flapping by her face. It almost makes it look kinda candid, I guess......That's not the word I'm searching for though.

Very nice!

Hmmm... The one on the right looks like my helmet visor 5 miles after the last gas stop.

I am in Shanghai visiting my parents and just lazying around for summer. Just happened to be that the longest total solar eclipse of the century will pass right over Shanghai during my stay here. I was excited and geeked out that I would get a chance to try and photograph an eclipse. Since I arrived, it was completely sunny with rare clear blue skies instead of the smoggy skies that Shanghai is notorious for. It was perfect--up until it started to get cloudy and rain the night before the eclipse. The clouds, rain, and thunder decided to stay throughout the eclipse. Next total solar eclipse that will be at least as long as the one that just passed will be in 2134 or something like that while the next total solar eclipse to pass over Shanghai will be in 2309.
