Post your SINGLE favorite shot of the year!

Here's the rules: You get one shot, and it has to be your favorite. Not necessarily your technical best, but the one you like the best because of story, framing, whatever. Second rule: you need to explain why it's your favorite. Third rule: It has to be taken in 2008!

Bring 'em on!

Here's mine. I helped a fellow pndubber move his sailboat from Port Orchard to Tacoma and as we were rounding the bend at Brown's Pointe we saw this kite sailer. He put on a show for us and I got a few shots. This one definately isn't the sharpest but I got the "rule of 3rds" down and the way the kite lines go out of the shot makes it look pretty cool. Not to mention the fact that he was 30 feet (or more) out of the water. I remember saying to Collin (I think I got a good one!) when I took this shot.

Indy MotoGP. T2 during free practice. Saturday was the only dry day. Love the heat trail from the exhaust.

Thanks.

When I was in Hawaii they called it all 3. KiteSailing, Kitesurfing and Kiteboarding. Here's a cool article about it....

No, you were correct with Kiteboarding. That's one of the three that they called it! I think they might be interchangeable.

me too its a guy on a bike,
kinda like the idea of taking a fast moving thing and catch it in freeze frame

also reminds of a great road trip riding our bikes down for the gp weekend at laguna

Hello all,

First post here. I took this picture in July 2008, shortly after I took delivery of the bike. It was early morning at Alki and I snapped a bunch of photos for the DesmoNorthwest 2009 Calendar. This one is my favorite for no other reason than I love the Seattle skyline view from Alki. I've been shooting w/my DSLR for a few years but haven't really gotten serious about it until a week ago when I got my first flash and started reading the owners manual. I want to really dive into photography as a serious hobby in 2009, perhaps dabble into some studio stuff..

Cheers and Happy New Year!

--Chris

That could be arranged. One caveat. I don't let anyone ride it. Other than that just let me know..

Do you mind if a half/fully naked chic sits on it? I'll make sure to clean off the seat

Sorry for being so late in posting, I was not near a convenient internet source for a couple of weeks.

He came out of nowhere and I wasn't prepared to take a photo. So the fact that it turned out to be a focused photo makes it one of my favorites of 2008.

This orchid (Phragmepedium Jason Fischer) received a First Class Certificate award from the American Orchid Society. This is the highest level award given in orchid judging - there are only about a dozen of these awards each year, worldwide, out of thousands of plants judged and awarded at the various orchid shows and monthly regional judgings.

This plant is not mine ; I am the regional photographer for the Pacific Northwest. I've been doing the awards photography in this region for several years, and this is the first time I have been able to photograph a plant that has received an FCC award, so it's a very special image to me.

All plants which receive an AOS award must have a 'botanical record' photograph done, in conjunction with a detailed botanical description with measurements of all significant plant parts; this helps orchid judges down the road who may be looking at a plant having the same hybrid cross, so that they can compare and see if what they have in front of them is better than what had been previously awarded.
