My Camera: Nikon Point Shoot

Monday Shots

Tons of folks out at the NESBA event on Monday. I try to make samples kind of fun, sometimes just adding a watermark, and sometimes messing with the photo like xqsme does. Its all in good fun right?

C&C welcome, Heres a few from the mix

Fav shot of the day is my buddy Moaka coming down T3 at a 1:27 pace (hauling a$$) and dropping a few gears, whipping out the rear wheel on the brakes, and lighting up the rear tire.

A new shot location

Friend Melanie through T6

Fuzzy

Faron on the gix

Brittany is getting quite fast out there too

Moaka up over a rise

Haulin up past 7 through the shadows

Full zoom

Thanks Kirk! Yeah, the track marshall was totally fine with you coming out onto the inside of 9. He saw you getting closer to the track and radio'd me, "hey darren, you're responsible for your friend out there!" Made me laugh because they typically let people onto the inside of 9 if you ask nicely. And i believe you stated you were shooting earlier in the day?

One thing that is actually kind of funny Kirk, from a photographer standpoint, remember how I was telling you, in a rush, i forgot to swap out my UV filter for my circ polarizer? And was worried because of the bright sun? Well I found basically that I had almost no deletes because of slower focus. Sensor/lens definitely takes that split second longer to find the subject when theres a polarizer attached. I was thinking its just me, but for now on, for my big lens, i'll stick strictly to a UV filter.

Yup, I actually never use filters of any kind outside of landscape shots or ND's for long exposure stuff. I know what they do, but never seen the need for what I am shooting for in sports.
I would like to try the CP on the 2-400, but my filter holder is frozen since I got it and don't want to take the time to send it in

Still learning the rules out there, when I was shooting WMRRA Ken and I where 4' off the corner, of course we signed the release forms and got the vest, maybe that's the difference. Or I just need to spend more time out there till they all know me. Again I can understand the concern, but there is a difference between 20 yr olds with a PS out there their 1st time and a 45 yr old that's been shooting sports and entertainment for 31 years. Just sayin
Hope we can do some riding shoots this summer.

I am actually heading down to WSBK @ Miller on Tuesday with the wife and 5 others. Were riding down and taking 10 days to do the trip, should be a blast!

Question for you...the shot titled "up over the rise"

Where was that taken from the outside of T7, riders right? And was this taken from behind the fence or in front of the fence?

The reason I thought it was T7 was your naming...up over the rise!.

So where you positioned down by the railing about halfway down the hill? I love all the trees in the back ground, great shot. I shoot most of all the Conference races and have wanted to stand around there but that is a high impact area and with a 2500lb car reaching speeds near 100mph there is very little room for a photog to get out of the way in case something goes wrong.

Anyway it's a great shot and I love the location, Good Job!!!

Before the track cleaned up the hillside on drivers/riders left exiting T2, a Porsche GT3 came out of T2 a little out of shape and ended up launching up and over that little hill with all the bushes that got cut down across from the 2B turn station.

not a big motor cycle person but your shots are really making me think twice. They are amazing. How long have you been shooting them?
