My Camera: Pentax K20D

Great shot. Nice leading lines via rail & deck lines lead the eye to the person. From there my eye travels from the elbow to the horizon and then to the clouds in the sky. Not much to quibble about in this one.

I'd like it better if the sky and waves weren't blown out. Good composition.

My Camera: Konica/Minolta Maxxum 7D

Hope you don't mind, but I downloaded a copy and played with it a little... I did a slight posterization and cropped it to a horizontal:

My Camera: Olympus Evolt E500

Maybe more contrast, but I'm thinking with the right large sized mat you could sell that in an art gallery.

one of the things I debated over was the cropping. I had almost the exact same crop, but didn't like how much it changed the pic. I think you lose alot of depth when you crop out the sky.

the overwhelming space of the sky in the original was one of the things i liked about the picture.

the crop isn't bad at all, though i'm not too keen on the posterization.

not too keen on any kind of filter-like work, really.

Seriously, I like the shot but I agree the sky is blown out.
IF, and now listen to me, If you have a raw, correct and combine, either with levels or a HDR program. you will be pleasantly surprised at what there is in a RAW.
Just give it a try, experiment.
