Learning in progress

Well after reading my owners manual and a book called " The Digital Photography book" by Scott Kelby I decided to try out what I learned.

I'm not sure of the setting for all three photos but I think they were

ISO 200 F4.8 and shutter 1/80 on a Nikon D40 w/ 18-55mm GII lens

Let me know what you think!

BTW I need a tripod

For clarity, you did a good job.

Something I'm still learning, and is really noticeable in your third image, is the "squaring" of the subject. Your camera was tilted and it makes the photo look "off". It detracts from the overall quality.

I'd say the first photo is the best of the three.

Yeah I'm sure the camera wasn't squared up cause I was just sitting on a bench and holding it in my hand. Looks like I'm going to order a tripod soon.
